AAS COLLEGE ALUMNI

Shady Gaballa

I always wanted to be an artist, for as long as I can remember. When I was young I was always interested in drawing, painting and craftsmanship, and even though I chose a science major instead of a creative one for my bachelor studies, I always had this idea of working in a creative field in the back of my mind. It is because of this that I decided to pursue my postgraduate studies in a creative field. My journey with AAS began when I started searching for a master program that was both affordable and reputable, and no one could offer that better than AAS. I was mesmerized by the idea of studying in Greece, a country that has always fascinated me ever since I was a child, and obtaining a very reputable degree from an esteemed British university like the University of Sunderland.

In June 2020, I decided to apply for the MA in Design program. The application process was extremely easy and hassle-free, and everyone at AAS was extremely helpful in providing information and support for the full process, from travel documents, to accommodation and living expenses. The visa process itself was extremely easy as well and everyone in the Greek embassy was very welcoming and friendly.

I arrived in Thessaloniki, Greece on the 8th of October 2020 and I started my classes on the 12th. I’ll never forget that day, how excited I was and how ready I felt to finally study something which I have immense love for. My educational experience was nothing short of phenomenal. Every professor put their all into making sure I had a full grasp of the educational content being presented, while at the same time I was offered the flexibility and space to fully express myself creatively and to expand my horizons in ways I never thought possible. I was able to learn new skills, and expand on my existing ones. I made connections, friendships and established bonds, and in the end I was able to land my dream job as a multimedia designer for the American fintech company Oxygen, Inc.

For me, AAS was more than just a college. It was a home, and the first step toward a prosperous path in the creative industry.
